For 20 years, the Annual Community Day festivity has been the highlight of the Summer each year, bringing together friends and families to the neighborhood park for good food, fun, and fellowship. Neighbors gather at the park for laughter, music, games and fun for the children. Special guests from the County agencies are always invited to share in the festivities and they have been tremendous supporters of our Community Day celebration over the years. The gathering of residents, family and our County agency friends serves to truly make for an exciting event.
For 10 of the 20 years celebrating Community Day, Mrs. Mary Ann Queen-Johnson was the event coordinator extraordinaire. Mary Ann has Community Day down to a science! In June 2013, in commemoration of our 20th Anniversary, and in recognition of her 10 consecutive years of coordinating this great event, Mrs. Mary Ann Queen-Johnson was presented with a Plaque of Appreciation and extended great appreciation for 10 years of service.
Each year, and often twice a year, Enterprise Estates takes part in a Clean-up Day. First and foremost, we ask each resident to sweep the curb-sides in front of their own homes clear of debris and leaves. Residents are also asked to gather the twigs and leaves from their sidewalks and yards. We all enjoy clean streets. And, since the County does not clean the streets any longer, we must take on the responsibility ourselves to keep our streets clean and clear.
Additionally, as a community come together to clean the two entrances into our neighborhood. This is always a fun experience and a great way to get to know your neighbors. The County provides bags, gloves, safety vests and grabbers so each one assisting will be well-equipped. This is a great opportunity for High School Students to earn community service points by helping to keep our community clean! Students are encouraged to come out and get involved. Students receive a Community Service Form the same day!
County Executive, Rushern Baker, offered this wonderful 'Clean-up; Green-up' program to assist communities in beautifying their entrances and common areas. And, the County Exec is putting the County’s money behind the program to make it work. Free trees, shrub and flowers were made available to communities upon request. EECA was sure to get our request submitted for 5 trees, 4 evergreens, 4 shrub and 50 flowers! And, free? Free is good!
Each year EECA is happy to take part in the County's Green Up Initiative, where the County offered free flowers, shrub, and trees to communities. The County also offered free landscape design services which we, again, were very happy to receive. EECA's Beautification Committee, with Ms. Ann Powell at the helm, worked with County contractors for a complete redesign of the tip of our main entrance. EECA also received sufficient new plantings to landscape the grassy area on a small bridge over a creek in the community
