“For 40 years Enterprise Estates has served as an exemplary model of a caring, safe and family-friendly community, and continues to be a delightful place to live. In June, 2013 Enterprise Estates Civic Association celebrated its 40th year as an organized community. And, for 20 years, EECA has hosted an annual Community Day which has been the highlight of the Summer when friends and families gather at the neighborhood park for good food, fun, and fellowship. In June 2013, EECA commemorated these two landmark anniversaries at a very special Community Day celebration complete with a formal Proclamation from the County memorializing the occasion. Throughout its 40 years of existence, Enterprise Estates has remained a welcoming, family-friendly community. Our tenure of success has been sustained through the years because of the commitment and leadership of each president, board member, committee member, block captain, special team, and a cadre of concerned residents. We are blessed to have such a great and thriving community!"
To ensure effective communications with residents, a vibrant Team of Block Captains serve as the communications link with residents. Block Captains play a vital role in the community. A few of their duties follow:
Many of our Block Captains love their role and find that serving in the position is a rewarding way to get to know neighbors. It is an excellent way to serve the community.
Enterprise Estates holds quarterly meetings with residents to discuss major action items, and gain approval of those items. Proposed agenda items are always distributed to residents prior to the meetings. The agenda for the meetings frequently includes guest speakers who bring pertinent and timely information for discussion. All major items that impact the community are discussed and voted on at the quarterly meetings.
The Quarterly Meetings also serve as a time for ideas and input from the community for sharing concerns, ideas, and appreciation. Formal minutes are taken, and minutes of prior meetings are read and voted on. The Treasurer always presents a financial report. And, the state of the community is addressed.
Newsletters are drafted after the Quarterly Meetings to share with all residents the events, activities, and decisions that took place during the meeting. Highlights of the meeting are shared in the newsletter, not the details. Members are encouraged to actually attend the meeting if they want details.
As an additional way to reach residents, a 'Resident eMail Roster' has been established to ensure quick access to residents for awareness of any urgent and timely notification. 10 | P a g e Residents seem to appreciate and value the email roster as a 'tool' for timely and responsive exchange of pertinent information.
Enterprise Estates residents who cared dearly about the welfare of others, came together to form The Enterprise Estates Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization designed to give to those in need. Through the dedicated and coordinated efforts of Foundation Team Members, Block Captains, and individual households, the Foundation provides Christmas food 'baskets' to the Department of Social Services for distribution to families in need.
Each year the Foundation delivers approximately 50 baskets that are completely stocked with turkey and all the trimmings, so others may eat. The Christmas Food Drive is always a rewarding and fulfilling experience for the entire community.
Jimmy Dowtin (3rd from right) has been leading the efforts of the Enterprise Estates Action Team (EEAT) for several years. Many of the original members of the Team eventually stopped serving and it appeared that the EEAT was faltering. But, strong guys came to the rescue! At the May 2012 meeting, an urgent plea went out for men to sign up to rebuild the EE Action Team. Three men joined with Jimmy on the spot! The Enterprise Estates Action Team now consists of:
Frank Elsen, Sam Watkins, Bob Alfor, Greg Williams, Jimmy Dowtin, John Dobbins, and Terry D Lee
The EE Action Team regularly patrols our streets in an effort to combat and report any incidents of crime in our wonderful neighborhood.
